Lamenting the slow, aching demise of the music industry is like feeling sorry for your pedophile uncle as he asks you to bring him porn in jail. The uncle can do without his stroke mags, and rich businessmen can do without musicians as a revenue stream. It’s simple ethics.
The fact is, musicians have the power now. They also have all the tools they need to create, publish, license, distribute, market and advertise their music. Musicians are now able to be the CEOs of their own business, instead of the savant intern who gets to contribute to meetings once every few months. These are good times for music and the people who make it.
… but I’m afraid our collective pedophile uncle is doomed.
